Store attendant shooters behind bars
Authorities reported that a man was shot in the leg after two robbers, who posed as customers, opened fire during a holdup inside a store in Barangay Katipunan recently.
Surveillance video shows two men, both wearing red T-shirts and face masks, entering the store at around 5 p.m. The suspects drew a gun and attempted to steal the victim’s belongings and jewelry. They shot the man in the right thigh before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Police Maj. Harry Basilla, deputy station commander of the Masambong Police Station, said a follow-up operation was launched and using the Land Transportation Office database, police identified the owner of the getaway motorcycle.
The motorcycle owner, located in Rodriguez, Rizal, informed police he had lent the vehicle to his cousins, who were the suspects.
“One of the victims refused to give his things, so he was shot in the right thigh,” Basilla said. “We conducted follow-up operations. We had an LTO verification in the database, we found out the motor owner is in Rodriguez, Rizal, and the owner lent it to his cousin.”
Masambong police raided the suspects’ home and arrested a woman who was with the suspects, as she had allegedly helped them escape. Several firearms and weapons were recovered from the house.
Police investigation showed the recovered weapons were used by the suspects in carnapping and other crimes. One of the suspects is facing 14 counts of robbery and carnapping, while the other is involved in drug-related activities.
The victim’s condition is stable.
