BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO) received recognition for excellence in social media strategy at the 21st Philippine Quill Awards for its BDO Kabayan Facebook Page, which supports the bank’s Alagang Kabayan advocacy for overseas Filipinos (OFs).

Given on 27 August 2025, the award highlights BDO’s effort to provide accurate, timely, and practical financial advice to OFs and their families through digital platforms. The BDO Kabayan Facebook Page serves as an online hub for over 500,000 followers, offering updates on remittance services, financial tips, and fraud prevention reminders.

Trusted companion

“We built BDO Kabayan Facebook Page to be a trusted companion for our kabayans abroad — a simple, friendly space where they can easily access financial advice, stay updated on promos, and feel closer to home,” said Genie T. Gloria, BDO senior vice president and head of Remittance. “There are a lot of scammers and fraudsters nowadays so we need to keep our kabayans informed wherever they may be.”

BDO also promotes BDO Kabayan Savings, a specialized account for OFs that enables customers to monitor transactions online or through 24/7 customer support, as well as BDO Pay, a mobile app that allows users to track accounts, transfer funds and pay bills.

Through BDO Pay

“Through BDO Pay, our kabayans can monitor their accounts and transactions. They can also save on remittance fees. They just need to download the app, sign up and link it to their Kabayan Savings,” Gloria said. “With just one remittance to their account, kabayans can send money to any BDO account or pay billers in the Philippines free of charge.”

Gloria dedicated the Quill recognition to the bank’s OF customers and their families.

“Salamat sa tiwala (Thank you for your trust) — your trust inspires us to keep improving our services every day,” she added.

The Philippine Quill Awards, organized by the International Association of Business Communicators Philippines, honors outstanding communication programs that demonstrate strategic impact and professional excellence.
