Ex-Burgos mayor passes away at 66

Nathaniel “Boy” Escobar, former mayor of Burgos, Ilocos Sur, died Saturday morning.

Escobar, who was also serving as municipal administrator, suffered cardiac arrest while playing basketball at the municipal gym.

He had just turned 66 on 10 September 2025.

Escobar will be remembered for his warm, approachable nature and “makamasa” demeanor.
