Police arrested a 28-year-old man known by the alias “Buknoy” for allegedly pointing an improvised firearm at a woman in the Baseco Compound, Barangay 649, Port Area.
The 38-year-old victim, identified only as “Miriam,” reported that the suspect threatened her with the weapon. Responding officers located Buknoy at Block 15B, where he was allegedly holding the improvised shotgun, or sumpak.
Police recovered the weapon loaded with one .38-caliber round. Buknoy faces charges of grave threats and violating Republic Act 10591.
Meanwhile, a sport utility vehicle driven by an unidentified Chinese national crashed into a lamp post and overturned early Friday morning along Romualdez Street in Barangay 664, Ermita.
The accident occurred around 3:20 a.m.
Witnesses said the SUV was speeding toward Ayala Bridge when it lost control and struck the post. A barangay watchman said on Saturday the driver smelled of alcohol but managed to exit the vehicle after it flipped over.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office provided first aid at the scene. Officials noted it was the first accident recorded in the area.
