A motorist caught on CCTV counterflowing along a section of the Skyway early Saturday morning has been permanently stripped of his driver’s license, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the perpetual revocation after CCTV footage, taken around 3:32 AM, showed the driver recklessly driving against oncoming vehicles in the opposite lane.
“It is not enough to merely suspend the license of this driver because it is clear from the CCTV footage that he endangered the lives of the drivers of the vehicles coming towards him,” Dizon's statement said in Filipino. “I have ordered the permanent revocation of this reckless driver’s license so that others will not follow his example.”
Dizon also urged the public to continue reporting similar incidents to the DOTr to ensure prompt action against dangerous driving.
