The discovery of five human skulls and bones in Barangay Tungkong Mangga, Bulacan, on 13 July has prompted a full-scale investigation by authorities.
A Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) source, speaking anonymously due to lack of authorization, said that investigators are pursuing several angles to determine the identities of the victims and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The probe, a joint effort by the CIDG and Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), involves forensic analysis and DNA testing. The source noted that persons of interest have already been identified and are currently being investigated.
The skulls were found inside a sealed box near a daycare center. A 64-year-old caretaker discovered the box containing the skeletal remains along Liana Road.
PRO3 regional director Police Brigadier General Rogelio Peñones said they are coordinating with other agencies to locate and apprehend any possible suspects. He added that one angle being investigated is a potential link to reports of summary executions in Central Luzon, particularly in Bulacan.
General Peñones urged the public to come forward with any information that might help in the investigation.
“Even seemingly insignificant details could prove crucial in piecing together the events leading to this disturbing discovery,” he said.
