NCRPO cracks whip vs illegal gambling

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) continues to intensify its crackdown on illegal gambling across Metro Manila, particularly illegal numbers games.

In just 50 days, from 2 June to 23 July 2025, NCRPO units conducted 1,119 operations, leading to 2,573 arrests and the seizure of more than P568,992 in illegal bets.

Significantly, 214 of these operations specifically targeted illegal numbers games such as ending, EZ2, horse racing/bookies and loteng.

These activities are known to undermine legitimate systems and prey on vulnerable communities. These operations resulted in 270 arrests and the confiscation of P97,160 in illegal bets. The remaining 905 operations focused on other unauthorized gambling activities.

The Quezon City Police District led operations against illegal numbers games with 104 operations, resulting in 111 arrests and the confiscation of P53,800. The Manila Police District followed with 60 operations, 106 arrests, and P26,360 seized.

Meantime, the Northern Police District conducted 38 operations, yielding 38 arrests and P12,345 in confiscated bet money while the Southern Police District carried out 11 operations, resulting in 14 arrests and P4,405 confiscated.

“These figures speak about the NCRPO’s serious stand against illegal number games,” said NCRPO director PMGen Anthony Aberin.

“We are taking direct aim at these operations that not only fuel crime but also exploit our citizens. Our campaign is relentless, and we are committed to cleaning up our streets,” he added.

Aberin commended all district directors, field operatives, and community partners whose coordinated efforts made these arrests possible.

The NCRPO assured the public that operations will persist in the coming weeks as part of its intensified law enforcement campaign.
