The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday debunked claims that the country will be hit by six typhoons this week.

"The information circulating that six typhoons will enter the Philippines this week is not true. The class suspension linked to [that post] is also false," PAGASA said in an advisory.

It urged the public to verify information from PAGASA's official website and social media pages of the weather bureau as well as other government agencies.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Aurora has developed into Tropical Depression "Dante."

Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental are expected to experience heavy rainfall until Wednesday noon.

Meanwhile, a second LPA inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has a "medium" potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to state meteorologists.

Another LPA spotted outside PAR also has "medium" chance to develop into tropical depression within the same time frame.
