Housing loan borrowers affected by Tropical Storm Crising will get a one-month reprieve as the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) rolls out a moratorium on amortization payments.

In a statement, NHMFC said the moratorium is in line with the directive of Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling for all government shelter agencies to explore ways to assist typhoon victims and implement support measures as soon as possible.

“We are committed to supporting our housing loan borrowers during this challenging time, and this moratorium is one of the concrete steps we are taking to align with the efforts of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sec. Aliling to immediately bring the much needed relief to our affected communities,” NHMFC President Renato L. Tobias said.

“This relief aims to ease the financial burden of affected families while they recover from the disaster,” he added.

The moratorium will take effect from 19 July to 18 August 2025. Borrowers residing in areas hit by the storm are automatically qualified, subject to NHMFC’s internal rules and regulations.
