Dongfeng Motors Philippines officially launched its first fully electric sedan, the E70 Pro, on 15 July at its Ortigas dealership, marking its entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market and potentially reshaping the country’s ride-hailing landscape.

The launch event gathered key figures from Legado Motors Inc., the official distributor of Dongfeng vehicles in the country, including President and CEO Wilbert Lim, Deputy CEO Brennan Lim, Chief Finance Officer Regina Singson Lim, and Vice President for Sales and Operations Giovanni Frias, along with partner dealers and stakeholders.

“Today, we are not just unveiling a new electric vehicle,” said Brennan Nathan Singson Lim in his opening remarks. “We are opening the doors to a smarter, greener, and more sustainable way of moving forward. The E70 Pro is our contribution to building a future where Filipino cities breathe cleaner air and Filipinos are empowered by reliable, and intelligent mobility.”

The E70 Pro features a 420-kilometer range on a single charge, designed to address range anxiety concerns. Its spacious cabin and smooth ride target both private car owners and fleet operators. The vehicle is already in use globally as an electric taxi in China and South America, and Dongfeng aims to replicate that success locally.

The company emphasized the E70 Pro’s safety credentials, with its battery system undergoing multiple safety and durability tests including fire, water immersion, extrusion, and heat dissipation assessments.

From a financial perspective, Dongfeng said the E70 Pro offers significant operational savings. Based on current fuel prices, drivers may save P47 per 6–7 km drive, or up to P783,349 over 100,000 kilometers, while keeping five-year maintenance costs at around P35,000. The E70 Pro is priced at P1,198,000.

The event also introduced a new ride-hailing concept, TaxiKo EV, based on the E70 Pro platform. Guests and transport operators previewed the vehicle’s features and electric operation, sparking interest in its potential for on-demand services.

That interest translated into action, with 65 units reserved on launch day, and some delivered to customers immediately.

With a combination of cost efficiency, comfort, and clean technology, Dongfeng officials say the E70 Pro could become a preferred vehicle for both personal and commercial use, especially in the growing ride-hailing and transport service sectors.

Dongfeng Motors Philippines said more details are available at www.dongfengmotorph.com or at authorized dealerships nationwide.
