Dina Bonnevie takes a swipe at young stars looking one and the same

Veteran actress Dina Bonnevie made quite a subtle swipe at showbiz newbies and young stars today who have undergone cosmetic enhancements.

In a recent interview, Bonnevie was asked about her statement that young stars looked like one and the same.

“I honestly said that, it’s true! Tingnan mo ‘yung mga artista ngayon, ‘yung mga bata. Mga bata pa lang operada na, retokada na, ‘di ba?’ (You look at actors today, the young ones. They’re young but they have gone through the knife, they’re already enhanced, right?),” she unabashedly asked.

She recalled one incident where she mistook one young celebrity for another celebrity.

“Tapos ‘pag lahat sila bumati sa akin parang, “Di ba siya ‘yung bumati sa akin kanina?’ Sabi ni Pinky (Amador), ‘Hindi mars ‘yung isa ‘yun.’ [Sabi ko], ‘Hindi. Siya ‘yung nag-hello kanina.’ [Sabi niya], ‘Hindi. ‘Yung iba ‘yun. (And then when all of them greeted me, it’s like, “Isn’t she the one who greeted me abwhile ago? Pinky (Amador) said: ‘No mars, it’s the other one.’ (I said), ‘No. She was the one who said hello a while ago.” (She said), ‘No. It’s the other.”

“Bakit kasi pare-pareho ‘yung mukha nila (Why do they have the same faces?)?” she asked…

In exasperatuon, perhaps, she offered her theory.

“E, baka naman pare-pareho ‘yung makeup artists [o] pare-pareho ‘yung doktor? (It might be that they have the same makeup artist or the same doctor?),” she said.

In particular, Bonnevie was aghast at seeing young stars with the same cheekbones, nose and chin augmentation, saying it was an altogether different scenario during her time.

“Sabi ko ba’t nu’ng panahon namin either maganda ka, artista ka. ‘Pag pinabili ka ng suka [tapos] naging artista ka, komedyante ka... Iba na ang uso ngayon. May ‘The Before and After’. Ayaw ko namang malagay sa ‘before and after.’ Tingnan niyo ‘yung before and after ko, ‘yun pa rin,” she said. (I said during our time, it’s either you’re pretty, you’re an actress. When you’re asked to buy vinegar and you become an actor, you’re a comedian...it’s different now. There’s “the before and after.” I don’t want to be placed in ‘before and after.’ Look at my before and after, it’s the same).

It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda was photographed with stand-up comedian MC Muah.

The photo taken at the Vice Ganda Comedy Club was uploaded by drag superstar Lady Morgana on her Facebook account.

Recall that in June this year, rumors of animosity between Vice Ganda and Muah surfaced when a video of their Holy Week trip in Coron, Palawan where the It’s Showtime main host castigated Muah for not participating in their activities.

With their photos together, many were hoping that Muah, together with Lassy, will be back in hosting It’s Showtime again.
