  • Motorists can now renew their driver’s licenses online through the e-Gov PH super app, a digital service jointly launched by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to eliminate long lines and fixers in LTO offices.

At a media event on Thursday, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the new feature allows drivers to complete the entire renewal process online — from medical exams to payment — without visiting a physical LTO branch.

“End-to-end, you can get license renewal online. No line, no fixer. Even payment is online via GCash, bank, or credit card. For the last decades, Filipinos have found it hard to transact with frontline agencies of the government. Pila and requirements—minsan doble-doble and paulit-ulit,” he said.

The app also allows users to take their mandatory medical exams virtually, including eye and hearing tests.

Renewed licenses can be picked up at the nearest LTO branch or delivered to the applicant’s address within 72 hours.

“This is just the start of our initiatives to make transacting with the government easier and more convenient. Our next step is online renewal of the motor vehicle registration. Later on, even license and new registrations,” Dizon added.

In the same event, DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said the agency is preparing to roll out more digital services soon.

“We are tasked by the president to launch a new feature in the e-gov super app every week,” he said, adding that upcoming integrations will include the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, the Commission on Higher Education, the Bureau of Internal Revenues, and Philippine Health Insurance Corp.
