BALANGA CITY, Bataan — The provincial government has enacted an ordinance excusing Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials from classes when attending official duties.

Governor Joet Garcia said Provincial Ordinance No. 2, Series of 2025 — also known as the SK Excused Absence Ordinance of Bataan — will take effect this upcoming school year. The measure was authored by Board Member Jomar Gaza and passed by the Provincial Board led by Vice Governor Cris Garcia.

Under the ordinance, public and private schools in Bataan must recognize the absence of SK officials from classes as “excused,” provided they submit a Certificate of Attendance to prove they were participating in official government activities.

These activities may include community programs, youth projects, leadership trainings, and other government initiatives during their official leave of absence.

The ordinance also emphasizes that SK officials must remain responsible for their schoolwork even when excused for official duties.

“You must coordinate with your teachers before your absence and submit your missed requirements within a week after informing them,” said Governor Garcia.

The ordinance warns that those who submit fake Certificates of Attendance will face appropriate sanctions.

“Through this ordinance, we hope to support our youth leaders in fulfilling their important duties while shaping them into responsible and exemplary public servants,” Garcia added.
