At this year’s Hong Kong Auto Expo, Geely pulled out all the stops, rolling out everything from electric taxis to low-orbit satellites, even a six-seater flying taxi.

The event served as a platform for Geely Holding Group to showcase the latest tech across its growing family of brands, which includes Farizon, Zeekr, Volvo, Lynk & Co., and others. The Chinese carmaker, now the largest privately held auto group in China, used the Expo to highlight its push into smart, sustainable mobility both on the ground and above it.

One of the standout moments was the delivery of 1,000 Farizon SuperVan electric taxis to Big Bee, a newly launched taxi service in Hong Kong. These new EVs are expected to help cut down on emissions while offering commuters a smoother ride around the city. On top of that, Geely also handed over Hong Kong’s first methanol-electric hybrid city buses, the Farizon U12M, which are part of the city’s broader plan to hit carbon neutrality by 2050.

On the consumer end, Zeekr, Geely’s premium electric brand, showed off its latest models including the 009 MPV, the Zeekr X, and the soon-to-launch Zeekr 7X, set to debut in Hong Kong on 26 June. Meanwhile, Geely Auto previewed its upcoming Galaxy E5, a mainstream electric vehicle scheduled for release in Q3 this year.

Beyond land transport, Geely’s flying car arm, Aerofugia, also made waves at the expo with the AE200, its latest electric vertical take-off and landing (e-VTOL) vehicle. The six-seater aircraft has a range of 200 kilometers and cruises at 248 km/h. Geely says it’s designed for city travel, emergency rescue, and even scenic flights.

Adding to the sci-fi vibe, Geely’s aerospace unit GeeSpace presented updates on its satellite program. So far, the company has launched 30 low-orbit satellites, with the first phase of its “Future Mobility Constellation” expected to wrap up this year. These satellites will support Geely’s expanding smart mobility platforms, especially in navigation and communication.

Even AI got some airtime. Meizu, another company under the Geely umbrella, highlighted its Flyme AIOS platform, which runs on several Geely vehicles including those from Lynk & Co. and Geely Auto. They also brought out smart glasses and AI-powered smartphones, hinting at a future where your car and your gadgets speak the same language.
