Department of Justice (DoJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla confirmed Friday that he has filed his application for the position of Ombudsman. The post will be vacated by Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires on 27 July.

“I have filed it yesterday (Thursday),” Remulla said, confirming his application.

Remulla submitted his application to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), which is responsible for accepting, screening and nominating appointments in the judiciary, the Office of the Ombudsman and its deputies and the Legal Education Board.

After deliberations and public interviews, the JBC, which is headed by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo as ex-officio chairperson, will submit its nominees to President Marcos for appointment.

The council had previously announced that the deadline for applications or nominations for the Ombudsman post is on 4 July.
