Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said Friday that at least 15 policemen could face charges over their alleged involvement in the disappearance and deaths of “sabungeros,” or cockfight enthusiasts.
The DOJ chief said the movements of these policemen have been restricted, and they have been directed to report only to their offices.
Remulla added that during the course of the investigation, there were allegations that these police officers carried out the execution of the sabungeros.
When asked if charges would be filed, Remulla responded, “Doon na papunta 'yan (that is where it is headed to).”
For now, Remulla declined to disclose the names of the policemen or their assignments.
Remulla met with the families of the missing sabungeros at the DOJ office in Manila and assured them that the department is leaving no stone unturned in resolving the cases.
The justice secretary earlier said that businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and his celebrity partner Gretchen Barretto have also been tagged as suspects and are under investigation.
The two have denied the accusations against them.
