Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Monday announced that he has no plans to run for any position in the 2028 elections.
Speaking during the oathtaking ceremony of newly elected Pasig officials at the temporary city hall in Barangay Rosario, Sotto said he wants to serve his final term without political distractions.
"Hindi ako tatakbo sa 2028. Ngayon pa lang sinasabi ko na sa inyo. Kaya malaya akong gawin ang tingin kong tama," the mayor declared in his speech.
"Hindi ninyo masasabi na may bahid ng politika. At 'yung hindi ko masabi noong campaign period, ngayon pwede ko nang sabihin," he added.
Sotto also extended an olive branch to his political rivals, calling for unity and cooperation in governing the city.
"Sa lahat ng aming katunggali, we extend a hand of unity. Kung maaari, magtulungan tayo para sa ikagaganda ng ating lungsod," he said.
"Handa po akong makipag-usap, handa po akong makipagkasundo. Kaya natin makipagtrabaho kahit kanino."
Sotto, first elected in 2019, secured his third and final term after defeating businesswoman and philanthropist Sarah Discaya in a landslide win in the 2025 midterm elections.
He reiterated his commitment to good governance, vowing to uphold transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption until his final day in office.
