Lawmakers from Northern Luzon have come together to launch a new regional unity and development campaign under the banner “WEN! We the North: One Voice. One North.”
Spearheaded by Ilocos Norte 2nd District Representative Angelo Marcos Barba, the movement is described as a rallying call for unity, progress, and purpose among the provinces of Northern Luzon — including Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
“This is more than a slogan. It is a movement,” the statement reads. “A rallying call for unity, progress, and purpose among the people of Northern Luzon. With our shared history, culture, and values, we rise not as isolated provinces, but as a strong, collective force — one voice, one vision, one North.”
According to Barba and his fellow legislators, WEN—short for “We the North” — aims to consolidate efforts to transform the region into a powerful growth corridor. The campaign draws inspiration from the North Luzon Growth Quadrangle, a long-standing framework for regional development based on infrastructure, innovation, and investment.
“WEN becomes a drumbeat for development, inclusion, and regional empowerment. It seeks to amplify the potential of the North Luzon Growth Quadrangle where infrastructure, innovation, and investment come together to uplift every community,” the statement said.
“In a country of many voices, the North shall no longer be just a whisper. WEN! Bold in spirit, united in action, and determined to shape a future we all deserve.”
