Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Thursday pledged to expand the city’s scholarship program in the next three years of his term.
“In the coming term, we will expand our PAGASA Scholarship Program to integrate our tech-voc [technical and vocational] program,” Sotto said in a social media post.
The Pasig City Council has already passed an ordinance to formally include technical-vocational training in the scholarship program.
Sotto noted that this initiative will complement the existing free courses offered by the Pasig City Institute of Science and Technology (PCIST), the city-run tech-vocational school.
“This is one of the solutions we see to address the vacant positions of local employers,” he said.
He also emphasized that the program will benefit aspiring micro-entrepreneurs in Pasig.
