Ayala-backed Globe Telecom Inc. is targeting to power over 150 sites with renewable energy within the next two years under an accelerated decarbonization drive.

The telco said Thursday it will expand its clean energy use through more Power Purchase Agreements and on-site solar installations under the government’s Retail Aggregation Program.

Globe currently sources clean power from licensed Retail Electricity Suppliers under the Retail Competition and Open Access and Green Energy Option Program.

It recently activated its first batch of renewable energy-powered sites in Mindanao, bringing the total number of high-energy utilization sites running on clean energy to 33.

The company nearly doubled its renewable energy share to 24 percent in 2024 from 14 percent in 2021.

“Each site we shift to clean power is not just about reducing emissions – it’s about building a future-proof network,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.

Globe follows a science-based plan to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42 percent and Scope 3 emissions by 25 percent by 2030, and reduce total emissions by 90 percent by 2050.
