American actor Taylor Lautner, who played Jacob Black in the hit Twilight series, recently acknowledged the viral “What hafen Vella?” trend that has resurrected the humorous mispronunciation of the line “What happened, Bella?” by Filipino impersonator Cristopher Diwata.
In a recent TikTok video posted by Lautner and his wife, user Taylor Dome commented: “Bro noticing everything except What hafen Vella trend.” Lautner responded with humor, saying, “Yup, but it’s not [your] fault, it’s mine.”
Diwata, a fish dealer from Orion, Bataan, first delivered the now-iconic line during his 2013 appearance on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime segment “Kalokalike,” where he impersonated Lautner’s character. The line, delivered with a distinctive Filipino accent, became a viral sensation over a decade later, thanks to its widespread circulation on TikTok and other social media platforms.
The resurgence of Diwata’s performance has led to renewed fame, with appearances on television shows and collaborations with various brands. His return to It’s Showtime was met with enthusiasm, as he once again performed the memorable line.
