In a recent social media post, renowned designer Mak Tumang shared a behind-the-scenes detail from one of pageantry’s most exciting moments:
“Miss Grand crowning ceremony gown for Christine Opiaza created in just 3 days!”
Posting on Instagram Stories, Mak revealed that Christine Juliane “CJ” Opiaza personally reached out to him ahead of her official coronation as Miss Grand International 2024, requesting a Filipino-made gown for the occasion rather than wearing a Thai creation.
“Hi Sir Mak, magka-crowning po ako sa Thailand, baka gusto niyo po kayo mag damit sa akin kung may available, thank you po,” CJ messaged the designer.
Her preference to wear a Filipino designer’s creation despite numerous offers was clear. “Gusto ko po sana Mak ako, kasi ino-offer na Thailand gown,” she added.
Mak responded positively, assuring CJ that he would work his magic to make it happen—resulting in a stunning crowning look crafted in record time.
