The heart behind the hustle: young dads of Savoy Hotel Manila share their ‘Why'

The heart behind the hustle: young dads of Savoy Hotel Manila share their ‘Why'
Published on

At Savoy Hotel Manila, fatherhood looks different for each man, but it is always rooted in dedication, strength, and love. As Father’s Day approaches, the hotel pays tribute to three young fathers from its team who show that the real drive behind every long shift and early morning is family.

They became fathers early, made tough sacrifices, and continue to build a life grounded in purpose. These are their stories.

Engr. James Luna

Assistant Manager, Engineering Department | Became a Father at 19

James was only 19 when he stepped into fatherhood. Today, his two sons, now aged 7 and 8, are the reason behind his every decision. “They’re my reason for everything,” he shares. “I even turned down a job abroad because I couldn’t bear to be away from them.”

Now in his seventh year with Savoy Hotel Manila, James has achieved what once felt out of reach. He earned his Master Electrician certification, bought a house in Cavite, acquired a small coconut farm in Quezon with livestock, and supports both his wife’s education and his children’s schooling.

Despite coming home at 11 PM on most days, he still wakes up early to prepare his children for school. “Taking them to school brings me joy. I just want them to enjoy being kids,” he says.

While his wife continues her studies in the province, James takes on the daily challenges of parenting with resilience. He is grateful for a supportive workplace. “When my kids are sick and there’s no one to watch over them, I’m thankful my team supports me and I can take emergency leaves.” His dream is to see his children graduate and find happiness in the lives they choose.

Bryan Solis

Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage Department | Became a Father at 19

Bryan also became a father at 19 while still finishing his college degree. With the support of both families, he and his partner weathered the responsibilities of young parenthood. He graduated, began his career, and is now a proud father of a 21-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter.

“Savoy Hotel Manila has been more than a workplace. The mentorship I received helped me grow,” he shares. “Having two days off means a lot. I use it to bond with my kids.”

At home, Bryan is present in every way. He checks his children’s homework, helps with housework, and prepares meals. “Seeing them grow into responsible, kind individuals is the most rewarding part.”

Instead of pursuing overseas opportunities, Bryan chose to stay close to his children. His idea of relaxation includes movie nights, short motorbike rides, and exploring new places with his family.

Moshe Ponferrada

Duty Manager, Front Office Department | Became a Father at 29

Moshe became a father at 29 and describes fatherhood as a daily practice of love and presence. His four-year-old daughter is the center of his world. “She’s sweet and expressive. When she’s happy, I’m happy,” he says.

He works the morning shift and heads home by 6 PM so he can enjoy dinner with his family, play with his daughter, and read her bedtime stories. Weekends and rest days are spent eating out, swimming, or simply sitting down for coffee and conversation.

Living independently with his partner, Moshe makes sure their schedules revolve around their daughter’s needs. His goal is to give her a stable life and the best education possible.
