The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas is set to visit the Philippines from 1 to 2 June.

Kallas, who also serves as the Vice President of the European Commission is scheduled to meet with Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo and other Philippine authorities to discuss further ways to strengthen ties between EU and the Philippines.

In a statement on Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs described the visit as “a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the European Union,” citing both parties' shared commitment to open dialogue and “enhanced cooperation in pursuit of peace, stability, and sustainable development.”

The EU Delegation in the Philippines also said on Thursday that Kallas will also meet with Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Ronnie Gil Gavan, National Security Adviser Eduardo Año, and students from De La Salle University during a town hall meeting.

Her two-day visit will conclude with a meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday.

This marks Kallas’ first visit to the Philippines since assuming office in 2024. Stated in her official EU profile, Kallas' mandate includes leading a “more strategic and assertive foreign and security policy” to advance the global interests of the EU.
