Lingayen, Pangasinan Archbishop Socrates Villegas slammed the unlawful artificial intelligence (AI)–generated video using his image to promote medical products.
"I have recently become aware of AI-generated videos using my likeness to promote and sell medicine without my knowledge or consent," Villegas wrote on Facebook.
"I want to make it clear that I have no involvement with these products or promotions," he stressed.
The prelate lamented that misuse of his image is "unauthorized and misleading."
He urged the public to be cautious of AI-generated content, especially when it involves fabricated endorsements by religious or public figures.
The archbishop also emphasized the need for responsible use of technology and urged authorities to take appropriate action to protect individuals from similar violations.
