A total of 1,200 college students from Pangasinan's Fourth District received P5,000 each in educational assistance during a payout held at the Dagupan City Plaza for Academic Year 2026–2027.
The 26 June distribution released P6 million in financial aid through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in coordination with the office of Pangasinan Fourth District Rep. Gina "Manay Gina" de Venecia.
According to the congresswoman's office, the assistance is intended to help students cover education-related expenses, including tuition, school supplies, transportation, and other school requirements.
The payout was carried out through an orderly and efficient distribution process to ensure beneficiaries received their assistance without delay.
De Venecia said education remains one of the top priorities of her office, stressing that investing in students is key to building stronger communities and creating better opportunities for the youth.
"We remain committed to helping more students pursue higher education by easing the financial burden on their families," her office said.
The congresswoman also noted that educational assistance has long been a flagship program in the Fourth District, tracing its roots to the tenure of former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. The initiative continues today under Rep. de Venecia, with support from former congressman Christopher "Toff" de Venecia.
The educational assistance program forms part of the DSWD's continuing efforts to provide financial support to qualified college students and promote greater access to higher education.
