The health center of Barangay San Felix in Sto. Tomas, Batangas has been upgraded with help from AP Renewables Inc. (APRI), the geothermal arm of Aboitiz Renewables Inc.
APRI donated last March more than half a million pesos to the barangay for the procurement of new medical equipment and supplies, including an examination bed, oxygen tank with regulator, adult and infant weighing scales, glucometer, test strips and lancets.
The donation also covered the procurement of medicines for high blood pressure, diabetes, cough, fever and colds, as well as the installation of a 2-horsepower split-type air conditioner and purchase of a sofa, a breastfeeding chair, and office chairs.
This enables the health facility to better serve the 7,334 residents of San Felix.
Barangay captain Gerry Punzalan, officers and health workers inaugurated the newly improved health center on 31 March 2025.
“Projects like this, wherein we maximize the use of funds from your ER 1-94 and our CSR initiatives, is proof of our strong cooperation and partnership,” APRI MakBan vice president for facility Antonio B. Layog Jr. said during the turnover of the health center.
“All assistance from APRI are properly accounted. All health needs of patients that you gave to us will benefit each villager of Barangay San Felix,” Punzalan said.
Barangay health worker vice president Jhoy Buban also shared that the marginalized sector will be given priority in accessing quality medical services.
The Adopt-A-Health Center is one of APRI’s flagship health projects, aimed at improving barangay health center facilities through the donation of medicines and medical equipment. Since its launch in 2020, APRI has adopted 14 barangays across its Tiwi and MakBan sites.
