The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said a total of 28 vote-buying and vote-selling incidents involving 68 individuals from various regions were recorded nationwide.
Of the figure, PNP Public Information chief Colonel Randulf Tuaño said 19 individuals have been arrested, while 22 remain at large, and 17 were released.
Among the total cases, five have yet to be formally submitted, one suspect has posted bail, eight are for filing, eight have been dismissed, and six are still under investigation.
Tuaño said the largest number of vote-buying was logged in Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 with 30 individuals involved, while other cases were recorded in PRO-2, PRO-3, and PRO-11.
Meanwhile, PNP chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil warned anew those individuals and groups attempting to interfere with the democratic process.
"The PNP will arrest, charge, and prosecute anyone involved in these illegal activities. We are fully committed to ensuring clean and honest elections. If you are involved in vote buying, stop now — because we will find you," Marbil said.
