Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, along with local lawmakers and officials, formally endorsed former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan’s Senate comeback bid during his final campaign rally held Saturday in Quezon City — the city where his political journey began.
The event took place at the Villa Verde Homes Subdivision basketball court in Barangay Sta. Monica, where Pangilinan symbolically ended his 90-day campaign by crossing a finish line and breaking through a ceremonial ribbon. He was joined by his nephew, actor Donny Pangilinan, drawing cheers from a crowd of supporters.
Pangilinan first served as a Quezon City councilor from 1988 to 1992 before becoming a senator. In his remarks, he appealed for voters to choose principled leadership, especially in challenging times.
“Let’s choose leaders who are honest, who won’t betray or disappoint us, and who will serve with integrity,” Pangilinan said. “We’re running for Filipinos who believe there’s still hope for the country — that fair players still stand a chance.”
Joining Mayor Belmonte in endorsing him were 5th District Rep. PM Vargas, 6th District Rep. Marivic Co-Pilar, and 5th District Councilor Joseph Visaya, all of whom raised Pangilinan’s hand in a show of unity and support.
