Canon Philippines unveiled its cutting-edge Cinema EOS lineup during a private showcase held at Yellow Studio, Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City. The event introduced three flagship models — the EOS R5 C, EOS C80 and EOS C400 — each designed to meet the evolving demands of filmmakers across the creative spectrum, from solo content creators to large-scale production houses.
“Filmmakers today need tools that adapt to their vision, not the other way around,” said Jian Liu, Director for Consumer Information and Imaging at Canon Philippines. “This new Cinema EOS range represents a major leap forward in performance and flexibility, built to deliver uncompromising image quality across a wide range of production needs.”
The EOS R5 C is a true hybrid — offering a fusion of Cinema EOS video functionality with EOS R mirrorless photography. It captures 45-megapixel stills and records 8K/60p RAW video, all within a single compact body, ideal for creators working across photo and video disciplines.
Designed for agile shooting, the EOS C80 features a lightweight, full-frame design with an RF mount and weighs just 1.3kg — perfect for drone and gimbal work.
Meanwhile, the powerhouse EOS C400 is built for more demanding cinematic environments, boasting a 6K full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor and pro-grade connectivity like SDI and Ethernet terminals, optimized for live production workflows.
Attendees, including media and industry insiders, were given hands-on access to all three models, experiencing firsthand the innovations in image quality, dynamic range, shallow depth of field, and bokeh.
Among the creatives testing the gear were husband-wife duo Jayson and Joanne Arquiza, who explored the R5 C’s hybrid versatility for advertising; directors Paolo Ruiz, Ian Celis and Wesley Villarica, who tested the C80’s mobility; and filmmaker Zig Dulay with cinematographer Neil Daza, who led a panel discussion and demo on the C400’s professional capabilities.
The event underscored Canon’s mission to democratize professional cinema tools while continuing to push the limits of digital imaging.
With the new Cinema EOS lineup, Canon empowers filmmakers at every level to realize their creative ambitions, whether they’re telling indie stories or crafting large-scale cinematic visions.
