Senatorial candidate and Makati Mayor Abby Binay said on Wednesday that the recent takeover of health centers by Taguig City and the disqualification complaint filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) are connected, questioning the timing just a week before the elections.
Speaking to the media, Binay described the moves as “planned and coordinated” by someone aiming to derail her Senate bid.
“Notice how in the past few days, it seems like they want to keep me in the spotlight. Clearly, someone doesn’t want me in the Senate,” she said.
“They filed a new case on Monday. On Tuesday, they entered the health centers. Today, Wednesday, they opened their health centers — yet their TRO is only valid until Friday,” Binay added.
She questioned the motive behind Taguig’s actions, noting that the health centers had been closed for over a year.
“Why wait until a week before the elections to file a case, secure a TRO, and take possession of the health centers? If you really cared about your constituents, you should have filed as early as January 2024 and insisted on taking possession then,” Binay said.
