Commuters will enjoy free train rides beginning Wednesday until Saturday, 3 May, in honor of the hardworking men and women of the country.
This comes as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced in a video message the government’s offering for Labor Day.
Marcos said the free rides will be available for all passengers throughout operating hours on the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2, and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3.
“Nais kong sabihin sa lahat ng ating mga commuter ay inutos ko na para magbigay ng ating kaunting parangal sa ating mga manggagawa dito sa ngayon nasa — kasama sa Labor Day Celebration ay maging libre ang sakay sa MRT 3, LRT 1 and 2 (I would like to tell all our commuters that I have ordered that, as a small tribute to our workers here today, as part of the Labor Day Celebration, rides on MRT 3, LRT 1 and 2 will be free),” he said.
The President added that the free rides aim to recognize the significant sacrifice and contributions of Filipino workers, not just for helping the economy but also for uplifting society.
The country celebrates Labor Day on Thursday, 1 May.
