The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) is urging even currently employed individuals to visit the various job fairs scheduled for Labor Day, seeking potentially better employment opportunities.
This comes as Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma announced that at least 170,000 jobs will be available through 2,000 participating employers at job fairs organized in partnership with mall operators nationwide.
In a radio interview, Laguesma highlighted the wide array of job opportunities that will be offered at these large-scale hiring events.
“I am inviting all jobseekers, those unemployed, even employed workers, for an opportunity to look for a better job with better opportunity and benefits,” the Labor secretary said.
Days ahead of Labor Day on 1 May, Laguesma expressed optimism that more employers would join the department’s job fair initiative.
To recall, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had earlier cited the active participation of various government departments in government-led job fairs. He added that since 2022, at least 4,000 job fairs have been conducted, resulting in the employment of at least 160,000 individuals.
