Spotlight II returns with a new group of emerging voices in contemporary art. Building on the momentum of the first iteration, the exhibition continues to serve as a platform for artists whose practices are steadily shaping and expanding the local art landscape. This year’s iteration presents fresh works that reflect a diverse range of mediums, narratives, and approaches — from introspective inquiries to social commentary, material explorations to conceptual investigations. Each piece contributes to an evolving conversation about where Philippine art is and where it is going.
This year’s lineup features Densen Almeda, Maica Borlagdan, Alexandra Brigino, Tannah Dela Cruz, Jecko, Adrian Labuguen, Pamela Maceda, Den Pascual, Amiel Louise Rivera, Soothsayer, and Kirk Tabanera. These artists bring together a range of practices that explore personal, cultural, and material inquiries. While their works are distinct, common threads emerge — moments of reflection, experimentation, and urgency — that speak to the pulse of a generation navigating a shifting world.
The exhibit is a glimpse into a growing community of makers pushing forward with curiosity and conviction. It aims to hold space for risk-taking and reflection, while encouraging audiences to engage with works that challenge, comfort, and inspire. In doing so, it continues the series’ mission of illuminating artists whose work deserves attention, recognition, and deeper conversation.
The exhibit runs from at 12 April to 24 May at the Altro Mondo Creative Space, 1159 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.
