"Five States of Being" is an art exhibit showcasing five artists' distinctive styles and perspectives. The exhibit can be viewed at One Ayala until 31 March 2025.
Corso Como at One Ayala is currently hosting "Five States of Being," a captivating group art exhibit that showcases the distinct styles and perspectives of five exceptional artists: Ofelia Gelvezon-Tequi, Gladys Tiongco, Karina Orozco, JJ Duque, and Danger Sanchez. This exhibition offers a rich tapestry of artistic expression, highlighting the unique journeys and creative explorations of each participant.
Ofelia Gelvezon-Tequi, a pioneering figure in Philippine printmaking, showcases her mastery of copper-plate etching and allegorical symbolism. A recipient of the Thirteen Artists Award, her work explores societal roles, spiritual connections, and political realities through captivating still lifes that investigate everyday objects. Her distinguished career and international recognition lend historical depth to the exhibition.
JJ Duque, a Manila-based artist known for his abstract drawings, challenges artistic norms with intricate use of colored pens and pencils. His work, blending technical precision and emotional expression, explores macro and micro perspectives through rhythmic patterns and philosophical meditations, offering a thought-provoking experience.
Danger Sanchez, an outsider artist with a background in music and film, presents his mixed-media decoupage. His works, born from coffee art and layered with various materials, reflect a fusion of personal experiences and cultural influences, particularly from Korean dramas. Sanchez's eclectic approach adds a dynamic layer to the exhibition.
