ISABELA CITY, Basilan — Top military officials visited Basilan to assess troops’ readiness and ensure secure and peaceful national and local elections on 12 May.
Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete and 11th Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña inspected the 101st Infantry Brigade in Camp Luis Biel II, Isabela City, where they were welcomed by brigade commander Brig. Gen. Alvin Luzon.
Luzon presented the brigade’s election security plans, covering current deployments, identified threats and contingency measures.
Nafarrete gave strategic guidance, stressing that the military’s commitment is vital to a peaceful electoral process.
Also present were battalion commanders and officers from Special Forces, infantry units, and intelligence groups operating in the province.
