Former Senator Kiko Pangilinan, despite rising in pre-election surveys, acknowledged that more work remains ahead as Election Day approaches.
In a media interview in Cebu City on 10 April, Pangilinan joked about the need for more content on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook. "We have 32 days to go until the end, we have to keep pushing because every time we rise in the surveys, paid trolls rise as well, so we really need to keep at it, convince and convince," he said in Filipino.
Pangilinan's campaign continues to focus on food security, citing a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing 90% of voters would support a senator prioritizing food security and agriculture.
"Truly, as they say, it's a gut issue, and we’re handling the gut issues," Pangilinan said. "More and more people are realizing that what we are saying is true."
He expressed confidence that once voters see through the false accusations against him, they will be persuaded by his record.
“It’s not true that we haven’t done anything. If you look at the 200+ laws we’ve passed, as author, co-sponsor, sponsor, and if you see the programs we’ve implemented and our track record, the ‘receipt’ will convince them even more,” he added.
If re-elected to the Senate, Pangilinan vowed to continue advocating for policies aimed at improving food security, supporting farmers and fisherfolk, and providing free school meals through his proposed "Free Breakfast" program.
“Food should not be a privilege but a right. Our priority is to lower food prices, and we are ready to work with anyone. Because hunger has no color. And neither does the solution,” he emphasized.
