There’s a new name in town for folks who love long drives, smart tech, and roomy rides. Chinese carmaker Li Auto has officially landed in the Philippines through its local partner, HomeAuto Inc., and it’s bringing a fresh take on family travel.

Since it launched in 2015, Li Auto has made a name for itself in China with electric vehicles that make the journey smoother, safer, and comfier, especially for families. One thing that sets them apart is their range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs), which means less charging anxiety thanks to a setup where the gas engine works as a generator to top up the battery, not as the main driver.

In 2024 alone, Li Auto delivered over half a million vehicles — a solid 33 percent jump from the year before. With numbers like that, expanding outside China seemed like the natural next step. And now, they’re setting their sights on Filipino roads.

“We are thrilled to introduce Li Auto’s innovative smart electric vehicles to the Philippines,” Stone Yu, HomeAuto Inc. chief executive officer, said. “The local market presents a significant opportunity for us with its increasing awareness of electric vehicles and interest in modern technology. Filipinos’ strong family values align perfectly with our vision, so we are confident that they will appreciate the unique blend of luxury and technology that Li Auto offers.”

To start things off, Li Auto Philippines is introducing two models: the Li L7 and the Li L9.

The Li L7 is their idea of the perfect five-seater SUV for families. Think spacious interiors, smart features, and enough room to stretch out without bumping elbows. It also boasts an impressive range of up to 1,360 kilometers on a full charge and fuel tank, so long trips don’t need to be interrupted by constant charging stops.

The Li L9, on the other hand, is a six-seater SUV that plays in the flagship league. It comes with five screens inside (yes, five), so everyone — from the driver to the kids in the back — can stay entertained. It runs on the same REEV tech, offering a slightly longer range of 1,412 kilometers, and it’s built with Li Auto’s own chassis and driving systems to give it a smoother ride.

Both models are packed with smart features: high-end audio systems, sensors for autonomous driving, and a design that balances power and comfort. A car that feels a little like home.

Li Auto also says it’s ready to support Filipino customers beyond the showroom. That includes fast-charging facilities, service centers with spare parts ready to go, and warranty programs that aim to make owning one of these EVs a hassle-free experience.

Customers can visit the Li L7 and Li L9 at a special showcase on the ground floor of The Podium in Ortigas until 2 April and SM Mall of Asia from April 4 to 10. Meanwhile, Li Auto Philippines’ flagship showroom will open soon in Bonifacio Global City to provide a dedicated space for customers to explore Li Auto Philippines’ premium smart EVs and services.
