Senatorial aspirant and Makati Mayor Abby Binay has secured endorsements from key political figures in Mindanao during a two-day campaign swing through the region.
This comes as Zamboanga del Sur Governor Victor Yu formally endorsed Binay recently in Pagadian City even as Tukuran Mayor Macario Tingson also pledged his support.
Also, Dipolog City Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Darel Dexter Uy endorsed Binay at the Kuyog Ta! Zamboanga del Norte Grand Proclamation Rally in Dipolog City. Binay joined a motorcade with Mayor Uy and his supporters.
On Sunday, Binay traveled to Butuan City in the Caraga Region, where 1st District Congressman Joboy Aquino endorsed her during a meeting with local officials.
Addressing barangay captains, Sangguniang Bayan members, and mayors from Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur, Binay promised to be a voice for local governments in the Senate. She vowed to advocate for stronger barangays and local government units nationwide.
Binay reiterated her top three campaign priorities: providing free maintenance medicines, strengthening early childhood education, and making overtime pay, bonuses, and incentives tax-free for both government and private sector workers.
She also pledged to push for amendments to the 1991 Local Government Code to strengthen grassroots governance and promote equitable development.
