MORONG, Bataan — Police patrols and stricter resort regulations have contributed to the absence of drowning incidents in this coastal town, the local police chief said.
Morong Police chief Capt. Carlito Buco Jr. said that police conduct constant patrols along the town’s coastline, which includes more than 100 beach resorts and hotels.
He added that police also require resort and hotel owners to install CCTV cameras and provide life-saving equipment, such as life jackets and ring buoys.
Morong and the neighboring town of Bagac are popular tourist destinations in Bataan, known for their beaches and resorts. In previous years, several tourists drowned in the area.
However, Buco said no drowning incidents have been reported from January to March this year.
Police are advising resort owners to limit swimming areas, establish clear boundaries with flags or ropes, and designate safe swimming zones, Buco said.
He added that he personally leads patrols along the coastal areas of Poblacion and Nagbalayong, where approximately 120 resorts and hotels are located.
