Partylist aspirant Kaunlad Pinoy (#133) took its campaign to Panay Island, rallying support from local communities and leaders across Capiz and Iloilo.

With a motorcade stretching from Roxas City to Maayon, the movement was met with warm receptions, lively crowds, and engaged discussions on livelihood and economic opportunities.

The day began with a massive motorcade rolling out from Roxas City, passing through different districts and towns.

Tricycle drivers, motorcycle riders and supporters joined in, forming a long procession of banners, flags and honking horns.

The streets were lined with residents cheering and waving, creating a festival-like atmosphere as Kaunlad Pinoy’s convoy made its way through the province.

For many, the motorcade signified their support for initiatives centered on small business growth, transport sector improvements and grassroots economic development.

Conversations with leaders

Upon reaching Maayon, Capiz, the Kaunlad Pinoy team was welcomed by Mayor Raymond Malapajo and members of the community, particularly women leaders and mothers.

Here, the conversation shifted to the role of women in economic progress, with Kaunlad Pinoy’s first nominee, James “Kuya Choi” Napoles, emphasizing the importance of access to business and livelihood opportunities.

“The backbone of many families and businesses are the hardworking women who keep everything running,” Napoles said in Filipino.

“We want to ensure they have the resources and opportunities to thrive, whether through entrepreneurship or community-driven programs.”

Following the Maayon engagement, the Kaunlad Pinoy team paid a courtesy visit to Capiz Governor Fredenil Castro. Their discussions centered on good governance and how to align one’s goal with the people. Governor Castro shared his experience being a former congressman and now an incumbent governor.

The barnstorming continued into Iloilo, where Kaunlad Pinoy met with Mayor Darwin Bajada of San Dionisio, Mayor Milliard Villanueva of Concepcion, Mayor Roberto Belleza Jr. of San Rafel, and Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy.

These meetings underscored a shared goal: improving local economies by empowering those in the transport sector, small businesses and local trade.

Each stop along the way reinforced Kaunlad Pinoy’s approach — listening to concerns, exchanging ideas and finding practical solutions that could be implemented beyond the campaign period.
