TecPlata, the Argentina-based subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), is strengthening its connectivity to Asia through two new services from Ocean Network Express (ONE), further positioning itself as a strategic hub for regional trade.
The terminal in Buenos Aires has been integrated into ONE’s newly launched East Coast South America Express 2 (SX2) service, which connects ports in the Far East — including South Korea, northern China, and Japan — with key destinations in South America. TecPlata will be linked to this service via the upcoming River Plate Express (RPX), a dedicated feeder route between Argentina and Uruguay through Rio Grande.
Set to launch in May 2025, the RPX will operate through Río Grande, Zárate, and TecPlata, offering more efficient cargo distribution and improved transit times. The streamlined schedule, featuring fewer port calls, is expected to increase reliability and reduce delays.
“With our inclusion in this new service that expands access to Asian markets, TecPlata reaffirms its leadership in Argentina’s port sector by combining cutting-edge technology, operational efficiency, and sustainability,” said Juan Pablo Trujillo, TecPlata chief executive officer.
The terminal is already recognized for its innovations in port operations. TecPlata is Argentina’s first carbon-neutral and BASC-certified port and was the first in the country certified to accommodate vessels up to 366 meters in length.
The new services underscore TecPlata’s commitment to delivering globally competitive logistics solutions amid shifting trade dynamics.
