President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday led the inspection of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 3 in General Trias, Cavite.

According to MPCALA Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), which is handling the project, Subsection 3 is currently 44 percent complete and is scheduled to open by the third quarter of 2025.

Once operational, the segment is expected to decongest Governor's Drive and provide seamless access to major economic hubs in the region. It also aims to ease traffic on key thoroughfares such as Aguinaldo Highway and Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, further supporting trade, tourism, and economic activity in Cavite and nearby provinces.

Upon completion, travel time between CAVITEX and SLEX is projected to be reduced by approximately 45 minutes, benefiting up to 95,000 motorists daily.

Marcos was joined during the inspection by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Cavite Governor Athena Tolentino, General Trias Mayor Luis "Jonjon" Ferrer, MPTC Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, MPTC President and CEO Jose Ma. Lim, and MPT South Officer-in-Charge Elnora Rumawak.

CALAX is a 44.6-kilometer, four-lane expressway and a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project with the DPWH.

Currently, operational segments of CALAX include entry at Mamplasan and interchanges at Laguna Boulevard, Laguna Technopark, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, and Silang Aguinaldo.
