Judy Ann Santos named Best Actress at Fantasporto for 'Espantaho'

Actress Judy Ann Santos’ unforgettable experience in Porto, Portugal, was shared as she attended the Fantasporto Film Festival, where the Best Actress Award was won by her for her performance in Espantaho.

On Instagram, glimpses of her adventure in the picturesque city were posted, featuring moments with her husband, Ryan Agoncillo, and close friends.

"PORTO... you were such a revelation. Napaka-charming mo. Sa kabila ng lamig at ulan, ang ganda mo pa ring libutin," was written in her post.

It was added by her, "This trip was made even more special because the closest and dearest people in my life were with me."

It was admitted by Santos that no expectations were held upon traveling to Porto, as only the representation of their film and the Philippines on an international stage was intended.

"Pumunta kami ng Porto nang walang inaasahan kundi ma-representa lang namin ang pelikula at bansa natin. Umuwi akong bitbit ang pinakamabigat na [tropeyong] natanggap ko buong buhay ko," was stated by her.

Deep gratitude was expressed by the actress to the Fantasporto Film Festival. "Maraming salamat, FANTASPORTO! Hinigitan mo ang lahat sa puso ko," was written by her.

The Espantaho team was dedicated the award by Santos. "Alay ko 'to sa lahat ng bumuo ng pelikulang Espantaho... para sa inyo 'to—@chitorono, @direk_chris_martinez, @attyjoji, @neildaza, sa buong cast, crew, staff, editors... lahat-lahat kayo, para sa inyo 'to!"

A moment was taken by the actress to express appreciation for Ryan, whose presence made the journey even more meaningful. "And my love, @ryan_agoncillo, thank you for making this journey more memorable. I love you forever."

The award was given to Santos for her outstanding performance in Espantaho, also known by its English title, Scarecrow.

This recognition marked the second Best Actress win for the same film, as the award had also been received by her during the Gabi ng Parangal at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) on 27 December 2024.
