Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Police Major General Nicolas Torre III on Friday urged Veronica “Kitty” Duterte to file a formal complaint following her claims that her top was torn during an alleged harassment incident during the arrest of her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte.
"Ireklamo niya kung gusto niya (She can file a complaint if she wants to)," Torre said in a radio interview.
On Wednesday, Kitty posted a photo on her Instagram story showing her wearing a light brown long-sleeve turtleneck with the top visibly torn, though her face was not visible.
"This is the result of the harassment they did to my family and I today. Done by the supposed 'protectors' of this country," she wrote in the caption.
"Nakita ko yun eh kung gano kalaki (I saw how big it was)," Torre said. "Sabi ko, 'Wow, ang laki naman ng punit pala. Grabe, parang parang kailangan pang hanapin para makikita niya.' (I said, 'Wow, the tear is really big. It looks like you'd have to look for it to even see it')."
He also pointed out that he is unsure whether the tear was recent or if the top had already been torn before.
Rodrigo Duterte was arrested upon his arrival from Hong Kong on Tuesday and flown to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, to face charges of crimes against humanity committed during his administration's bloody war on drugs.
His first appearance at the ICC is scheduled for Friday, 14 March 2025, at 14:00 hours (9 p.m. Manila time).
