The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 junked the request of Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy for house arrest.

In a decision dated 12 March 2025, Acting Presiding Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa denied Quiboloy's motion for lack of merit.

 “In this regard, mere conjectures regarding the potential deterioration of his health, while in detention, are insufficient to justify the grant of house arrest,” Estacio-Montesa said. 

Quiboloy, who is detained at the Pasig City Jail on human trafficking charges, had requested to be placed under house arrest at one of three locations: the Garden of Eden Restored in Tamayong, Davao City; the KOJC Compound in Sauyo, Novaliches, Quezon City; or in Tagaytay City.

Quiboloy's motion, who is running for senator in the May elections, was based on his medical situation and humanitarian considerations.

However, the prosecution countered that the court has consistently upheld Quiboloy’s right to medical care.

It also raised concerns regarding the propriety of allowing Quiboloy to be under house arrest within the KOJC compound or similar locations, considering the offenses were allegedly committed there.

The judge said, “After a careful evaluation of the arguments of the parties, the court resolves to deny the motion for house arrest filed by accused Quiboloy for lack of merit."
