The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) confirmed that a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Makati City was raided on Thursday.
In a radio interview on Friday, PAOCC executive director, Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz, said the raided building was large, with seven floors.
“The place was spacious, and there were many rooms per story that were filled with computers. We believe it was still operating because on the three floors that we checked the air conditioning was still cold when we arrived,” he said.
The operation involved love scams, he added.
Cruz said the authorities expected to find around 600 Filipinos and foreign nationals at the location, but no one was found during the raid. He assured the hub would definitely be shut down.
“At least we know who was running the operation because we have records, and we will definitely shut it down,” he said.
“That’s why we are working with the licensing office of Makati City to ensure that these POGO hubs are completely closed down,” he added.
