NLEX Corp. has begun construction of the P2.2-billion NLEX-C5 Northlink Section 1A, a two-kilometer elevated expressway connecting the Mindanao Toll Plaza to Quirino Highway in Quezon City.

With China Road and Bridge Corp. as partner builder, the project aims to ease congestion in Novaliches and nearby areas.

“We aim to finish this 2km road in 12 months. During construction, we will work closely with all stakeholders to minimize disruptions. Rest assured that MPTC and NLEX are committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability,” Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) president and CEO Jose Ma. Lim said during a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday.

Once completed, the expressway will improve access between NLEX, Valenzuela, and Quezon City, cutting travel time and easing traffic on EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue, Quirino Highway, and Mindanao Avenue.

Lim said the elevated design was chosen to reduce disruptions in local communities during construction.

The project is part of the 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink, which will extend from Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia near Katipunan Avenue.

NLEX Corp. is a subsidiary of MPTC, the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.
