Following their viral “May Piso sa Mosquito” campaign, Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City participated over the weekend in the simultaneous nationwide cleanup drive launched by the Philippine Red Cross.
Barangay personnel swept the streets thoroughly to clean their community. They also opened drainage canals and removed debris clogging the waterways.
Supporting the PRC’s campaign, dubbed “Linis Beats Dengue,” were members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, who started the cleanup as early as 6 a.m.
The campaign aims to maintain cleanliness in communities to prevent the spread of dengue by mosquitos.
The Department of Health earlier reported that dengue cases nationwide have already exceeded 43,700 this year, marking a more than 50 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
