
MORONG, Bataan — The Aboitiz Power subsidiary GNPower Dinginin aims to extend its support to a pawikan hatchery here for five more years.
The announcement came on Friday afternoon during the Pawikan Hatchlings Releasing Ceremony at Sitio Fuerte, Barangay Poblacion of this town.
According to Reputation and Stakeholder Manager Joseph Mendoza, today’s releasing of pawikan hatchlings will add 192 to the already large number of hatchlings the Sagip Pawikan Hatchery has released.
He added that the company has supported the hatchery, citing that the it has already gathered and hatched 15,978 eggs as of 20 February this year.
Mendoza said that the mortality count is 404, — with a success rate of 97.53 percent.
“There are still 46 remaining nests, with 4,595 eggs. I would like to note that the total number of eggs collected is 20,977 from 11 September last year up to 20 February this year,” he said.
He added that the extension of support will be from 2026 up to 2031, citing that the #SagiPaWeCan program is spearheaded by AP subsidiary GNPower Dinginin.
During the releasing, Congresswoman Angela Garcia, Mayor Cynthia G. Linao-Estanislao, and Vice Mayor Leila Linao-Muñoz were the guests of honours.
The Tubo-tubo Fisherfolks Association, the Samahan ng mga Mangingisda ng San Rafael Anak Dagat, the Upland Farmers Producer Association, Inc., the SAGIP Pawikan, employees of AboitizPower, and the PG-ENRO took part in the releasing ceremony.
